Meet Our Counselors
The Rumson School District offers a comprehensive developmental school counseling program, aligned to American School Counselor Association standards, NJ State Learning Standards, as well as 21st Century Common Core Standards, that provide education, prevention and intervention services; all of which are integrated into aspects of students' lives. In our district we have three certified counselors who are responsible for the implementation of our robust guidance programming. To learn more about each of our counselors, please read more below.
Mrs. Jessica Piernik , School Counselor (Grades PK-3)

Jessica Piernik serves as the School Counselor at Deane-Porter School, where she is the School Anti-Bullying Specialist and oversees multiple committees such as I&RS, 504, SEL Team, and School Climate Team. Her academic journey began at Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and American Studies, followed by Graduate Level Teacher Certification from Rider University's Graduate School of Education. Jessica holds multiple certifications, including Elementary School Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Psychology Teacher, Teacher of Supplemental Instruction for Mathematics and Language Arts, and Supervisor. After several years as a Special Education Teacher, she made a career transition, obtaining both M.A. and Ed.S. degrees in Counseling Services from Rider University, with a specialization in School Counseling. Jessica is certified as a School Counselor, National Certified Counselor (N.C.C.), and Licensed Professional Counselor (L.P.C.). In her fourteenth year at Deane-Porter, she focuses on creating a safe, inclusive school environment through character education classes, as well as offering individual and group counseling sessions to students in need. Ms. Allie Copman , School Counselor (Grades 4-5)

Allie Copman is a school counselor specializing in fourth and fifth grades at Rumson School District since March 2018. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Services with a Clinical Services Concentration from the University of Delaware, with minors in Sociology and Disability Studies. She furthered her education with a Masters of Education in School Counseling from Monmouth University, obtaining certifications as a Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). Allie's professional focus includes teaching character education and mindfulness classes for third and fourth graders. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her puppy Skye and is currently planning her wedding for September. Her personal interests include beach outings and quality time with friends and family.
Mrs. Amanda Fahy , School Counselor (Grades 6-8)

Amanda Fahy is a middle school counselor for grades 6th to 8th. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from Boston University and taught for two years in Newark before transitioning to school counseling. She completed her Master's degree in School Counseling at Monmouth University, where she began her counseling career in Bradley Beach. Additionally, she is a passionate Yankees fan and enjoys discussing sports with her students.
