    6-8 Programming

All students in Grades 6-8 are provided the opportunity to participate in enrichment throughout the school year, regardless of previous JET identification or placement for accelerated coursework.
    Enrichment 6-8 Programming includes:

    • Acceleration in the area of Math and enrichment in ELA for grades 6, 7 and 8.

      • In enrichment English classes, students' rigor in the following areas is increased: the complexity of texts read (higher lexile level); the number and complexity of writing assignments; and the expectation that connections will be made between texts read.

      • Math acceleration is course-specific and may lead to high school advanced course satisfaction, however the enriched ELA course sequence does not. Parents may view the potential math course sequence via this link .

      • Acceleration in Math and ELA is provided to identified students in grades 6, 7 and 8 students through obtaining qualifying scores on  BOE-approved rubrics

    • Opportunities for all students to self-select competitions throughout the school year based on interest. Enrichment instructors provide information sessions to students outlining the various opportunities available to them, and any requirements [e.g. sign up] to enroll. Students must be in good academic standing, as these enrichment programs take place during the school day, and students will be pulled from their regular class(es) in order to participate. Every attempt is made to ensure that students do not miss the same class repeatedly.
