Dr. John E. Bormann, Superintendent of Schools
Dr. Bormann is an accomplished and highly passionate educator with 26 years of experience in the field as a middle school science teacher, Supervisor of Curriculum, Principal, and Superintendent.  Dr. Bormann holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University in Natural Resource Management, a Master of Science from Ramapo College in Educational Technology, a Master of Arts degree from Georgian Court University in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate from St. Peters University in Educational Leadership. He holds New Jersey teaching certifications in Elementary Education and Life Science, K-12.   Dr. Bormann was awarded the national Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award in 2001, is a two time recipient of the NJ Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award, and received, as superintendent, the Monmouth County Education Association Friend of Education Award in 2014. Dr. Bormann currently serves as the Superintendent of Schools for the highly successful school district of the Borough of Rumson, NJ.  Prior to this he led, as the chief school administrator, the Spring Lake School District to national Blue Ribbon status in 2014.  In addition to his role as Superintendent, Dr. Bormann is a teaching fellow at Monmouth University.  In this role he teaches Doctorate level course for the School of Education, specializing in curriculum and assessment from a leadership perspective.  Dr. Bormann also worked with the university to create the Teacher Leadership Endorsement program, teaching graduate courses in Teacher Leadership and Action Research.

Mrs. Denise McCarthy,   School Business Administrator
Mrs. McCarthy comes to us from Spring Lake, and prior to that Monmouth Beach and Point Pleasant where she served as the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary.  Mrs. McCarthy is a Certified Public Account, a licensed Public School Accountant, a Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations and a Qualified Purchasing Agent. After graduating magna cum laude from Montclair State University she began her accounting career at Arthur Andersen & Company in New York City. Her last stint in public accounting was as an audit manager of a regional firm that specialized in school district audits. She was offered the position of Assistant School Business Administrator by one of her audit clients, Point Pleasant Schools. She remained in Point Pleasant Schools for 18 years while raising her children. In 2018, she was offered a position as the shared Business Administrator for Spring Lake and Monmouth Beach.

Ms. Shari Feeney Principal of Deane-Porter School 
Ms. Feeney is a consummate elementary school administrator with an extensive history of  dedication to the Rumson district. Ms. Feeney is an RFH graduate and began teaching 5th Grade at Forrestdale  School in 1993, and continued on to teach 6th Grade ELA (English Language Arts) and Science through  2012. In July 2011, she served as the Administrative Intern for both Deane-Porter and  Forrestdale Schools. Ms. Feeney holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of  Rhode Island, A Master of Arts degree in Education from Monmouth University, and is Highly  Qualified in Language Arts. In addition, she holds an NJ Principal Certificate from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Ms. Feeney was awarded the NJ Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award  and was involved with the NJDOE, Rutgers University, and the National Institute for Early  Education Research in supporting High-Quality Teaching Practices. In May 2019, Ms. Feeney  was awarded the NJ State Governor’s Jefferson Award for Public Service in recognition of her  extraordinary service to our community. She proposed the concept of having a therapy dog in  the Rumson district. She initiated researching breeds, securing and training “Boomer”, and  implementing our therapy dog program in both schools. She is a certified  handler and is responsible for “Boomer’s” care. As a result, Deane-  Porter and Forestdale students benefit from having a therapy dog who provides  social/emotional support as well as cognitive benefits.

Mrs. Jennifer Gibbons, Principal of Forrestdale School
Mrs. Gibbons has a passion for working with middle school students and much of her educational career has been devoted to working with this age group.  After graduating from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Mathematics, she began her teaching career as a sixth grade math teacher at Markham Place School, Little Silver, where she also started and coached the school softball team.  Mrs. Gibbons holds NJ teaching certificates in both Elementary Education K-8 and Mathematics K-12.  While teaching in Little Silver, Mrs. Gibbons earned her Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from Monmouth University, where she was awarded the Department of Educational Leadership and Special Education School of Education Award upon graduation in May 2005. Immediately following graduation, Mrs. Gibbons began her first administrative position as Assistant Principal of the Byram Intermediate School in Sussex County.  After her first year in this position, she was also named the Byram Curriculum Supervisor.  This experience gave Mrs. Gibbons administrative exposure to all areas of practical principal leadership and helped her to earn her first Principalship in Morris County at the Riverdale School, serving Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 8 students.  While at Riverdale, Mrs. Gibbons was nominated and accepted as a member of the New Jersey Council of Educators, an organization she is still a member of today.  Anxious to return to her beloved roots in Monmouth County, Mrs. Gibbons accepted the appointment as Forrestdale Principal in July 2008.  

As Principal of Forresdtale School, Mrs. Gibbons has worked with her staff to earn the recognition of an Honorable Mention for a National School of Character and both Bronze and Silver Status for NJ Safe Schools.  She serves on the board of the Two River Competent Community and in doing so collaborates with the Monmouth County Mental Health Association regarding student and parent programming.  She participates with other Rumson Administrators in the Monmouth University Leadership Consortium and the Monmouth County Principal Association.  

Mrs. Vera Ridoux,   District Supervisor of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment & Intervention Services
Mrs. Ridoux has been in the field of education in New Jersey since 1994, both as a teacher of general and special education and an administrator in K-8 districts. As a student-centered professional serving the families of the Rumson School District, Mrs. Ridoux has a vision of fostering inclusive learning environments and advancing educational methodologies for student success. Some of her initiatives include: redefining programming for and the identification of gifted students; designing an early literacy cohorting model to include reading specialists as co-teachers with a deep focus on the science of reading; embedding evidence-based, multi-tiered, data-driven classroom instruction; evolving the integrated, inclusive system of services for children with academic weaknesses through intervention services and I&RS planning; leveraging artificial intelligence to accelerate learning and deepen understanding; and enhancing staff capacity through sustained, high quality professional development programs tailored to the adult learner.

Prior to her role in Rumson, Mrs. Ridoux served as the Supervisor of Student Services and LDT-C at Sea Girt Elementary, a National Blue Ribbon District.  There, she worked cooperatively with families and staff to ensure students could meet with success both in and out of the classroom. While at Sea Girt, she also served as a Content Expert for Global Compliance Network, developing staff training modules covering a broad range of topics from health and safety to policies and regulation. Mrs. Ridoux is the author of several works, including: “Dyslexia and Reading Disabilities;” “The Student with ADHD;”  “Transporting Special Needs Students for Bus Drivers;” “Bullying and Harassment;” and “The I & RS Process.”

Mrs. Ridoux holds a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education/English from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, and a Masters of Arts in Inclusive Education with LDT-C Certification as well as post-graduate certificates in Supervision, and Teacher of the Handicapped from Georgian Court University, Lakewood, NJ.  She was honored to present her work on dyslexia, at the 2014 Monmouth County Superintendents’ Fall Conference and “Mine the Gaps, Using Data to Personalize Instruction,” at the 2018 New Jersey School Board Association's Fall Conference. In 2010, Mrs. Ridoux received the Governor’s Award for Educator of the Year, and in 2018, she was recognized by the Anti-Defamation League of New Jersey and the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education for Outstanding Holocaust Education Integration in collaboration with The Chhange Center at Brookdale Community College.

Dr. Michael T. Snyder, Director of Student Services 
Dr. Snyder joined the Rumson School District as the District Supervisor of Special Services in 2014. With nearly two decades of professional experience, Dr. Snyder is a seasoned, accomplished, and visionary educational leader with substantial operational, planning, and program development expertise. He has an extensive background in school law, school policy, special education programming, curriculum, and instruction (Pre-K to 12). Dr. Snyder oversees the district's compliance with guidelines, mandates and regulations governing instructional matters. He serves as the district's McKinney Vento liaison, liaison for educational stability, coordinator for English as a Second Language, coordinator for child abuse prevention, district affirmative action officer, Title IX decision maker, and human resources officer.

Dr. Snyder is a member of the Monmouth County Association of Special Education Directors, the New Jersey Special Education Director’s Study Council and the Children’s InterAgency Coordinating Council. Prior to joining Rumson, Dr. Snyder was the Supervisor of Special Services for the Toms River Regional Schools, one of the largest districts in the state, where he was nominated as School Psychologist of  the Year. During his tenure in Toms River, Dr. Snyder was known for innovation in programming to support students and success in fostering systematic, districtwide approaches to enhance student achievement, wellness, and equity including creating therapeutic supports, social emotional learning and positive school climate for all students. Dr. Snyder received his Master of Arts and Educational Specialist degrees from Seton Hall University. St. Peter's University awarded him a second Master of Arts in Educational Leadership as well as a Doctorate with honors in Educational Leadership. Dr. Snyder also holds a New Jersey Certification in Educational Services and Administration as a supervisor, principal, business administrator and school administrator .

Miss Brittaney Flynn, District Dean/Supervisor of Students
Miss Flynn is a highly qualified professional with eleven years of experience teaching at the elementary and middle school level in the Rumson School District.  After graduating from The College of New Jersey with a Master of Arts in Special Education, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, and Bachelor of Arts in English, she began her career as an in-class support teacher in a co-taught fourth grade classroom.  Over her years at Forrestdale, she also served as a fifth grade teacher, the fourth and fifth grade science specialist, and the Agricultural Stem teacher.  For the past nine years, she has served as a representative of Monmouth County on the Elementary School Science Advisory Committee where she works collaboratively with the New Jersey Department of Education to review items for the state science assessment, perform range-finding for open-ended questions, and review statistical analysis.  Miss Flynn was honored by her colleagues as the Forrestdale Teacher of the Year in the 2015 - 2016 school year and was the recipient of the Exemplary Educator Recognition Award in 2021.  While teaching in Rumson, Miss Flynn earned her Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Monmouth University.  In 2023, Miss Flynn was afforded the opportunity to pursue school leadership by happily accepting the position of Supervisor of Students for the Rumson School District.
